A Brief History of Ubiquity

Nathalie Morris and Guy Bibby founded Ubiquity in 2000 after five years of experience in technology and marketing. The Ubiquity team has grown over the years and now includes both top developers and project managers skilled at translating your marketing needs into technology solutions. Our Best Game Face

In the early days of Ubiquity we built two of the first large-scale gaming sites in New Zealand - Virtual NPC and Virtual Super 12. We built sites that could handle large traffic volumes - with up to 100,000 people playing the games at once. We also handled their e-newsletters, gaining experience in delivering high volume emails, with up to 80 customisable fields required for picks, tips and scores.

Blooming Lovely

We went on to other marketing projects, such as ASB Bank Virtual Flowers, a site that reinforced the bank's sponsorship of the Ellerslie Flower Show. We built a web application for people to adopt plants, feeding them water and sunshine to make them grow and bloom flowers. This gave us experience with dynamic graphics and as well as writing complex algorithms to make the plants bloom or wither.

Putting it On Display

Another key project from the early days of Ubiquity was Haines Recruitment Advertising's custom software for uploading and displaying classified advertising. This was a project that required Ubiquity to understand the business background of Haines and to perform business process analysis before the software could be designed, a skill we have brought to all succeeding projects.

The Building Blocks

Ubiquity branched out into building its own proprietary software products which clients could buy licenses to and use online, uTransact™ and uSuite™. uTransact™ is a highly robust and secure online payments system used by nine councils around the country. uSuite™ is an online toolkit of integrated marketing products, including highly capable email marketing and survey software.

Getting Interactive

Moving on to 2007 and Ubiquity began focusing purely on marketing technologies. Trends show that interactive marketing is a growth area*, even as marketing budgets for traditional media start to decline. Our clients also began asking us for solutions that were very measurable, with demonstrable Return on Investment.
