When you're at an event, have you ever struggled to find the information you need from a stall or exhibitor? While attending a recent event called ‘Armageddon’, I noticed a huge variation in how exhibitors presented their digital presence. Some made it easy for attendees to access their content, while others didn't.

The Problem: Fragmented Digital Presence
Many artists just had signs indicating their social platforms, but hadn't made it easy for attendees to access their content. Some had platforms with different names than their branded merchandise, making it difficult to find what I was looking for. This lack of cohesion can be frustrating for both the attendee and the stall owner.
The Missed Opportunities
I encountered several instances where I wanted to buy something, but the solo stall owner was away. Unfortunately, many of these stalls didn't have easily searchable social handles or QR codes linking to their online stores. For many, I resorted to taking a picture of the item and doing a reverse Google image search to find the information I needed. It shouldn't have been that difficult.
The Solution: Streamlined QR Codes
On the other hand, some stall owners had an incredibly streamlined process. They used multiple QR codes that linked directly to their desired platforms - Instagram, Etsy, Pinterest, JotForm, or Linktree or more. This ensured that attendees could quickly and easily sign up and access the assets they wanted to share.
Benefits of Using QR Codes
Using QR codes at in-person events can simplify the process of accessing digital assets. Here are some benefits:
Easy access: QR codes provide a one-stop shop for attendees to access the information they need.
Streamlined experience: By linking directly to specific platforms, you can reduce the friction between your physical presence and digital content.
Increased engagement: By making it easy for attendees to access your content, you can increase the chances of them engaging with your brand.
Best Practices for Implementing QR Codes
To get the most out of QR codes at your next event, consider the following:
Use multiple QR codes: Link to different platforms or assets to cater to different attendee needs.
Keep it simple: Ensure that your QR codes are easy to scan and link to the correct destination.
Test your QR codes: Before the event, test your QR codes to ensure they're working as intended.
